This book is devoted to aspects of the foundations of quantum mechanics in which probabilistic and statistical concepts play an essential role. The main part of the book concerns the quantitative statistical theory of quantum measurement, based on the notion of positive operator-valued measures. To graduate students in mathematics or physics who are interested in the mathematical aspects of quantum field theory, this book is a good introductory text. It is also well suited for self-study and will provide readers a firm foundation of knowledge and mathematical techniques for reading more advanced books and current research articles in.

Quantum mechanics (QM; also known as quantum physics, quantum theory, the wave mechanical model and matrix mechanics), including quantum field theory, is a fundamental theory in physics describing the properties of nature on an atomic scale..
